I compose traditional-style Scots/Celtic music. My tunes are played by several top bands including The Poozies, Karen Tweed’s May Monday and Sarah Jane Summers. You can commission me to write a tune, which will be original and unique. Samples of previously commissioned tunes can be found below.
Tunes have been written in Scotland for centuries to mark significant events or to honour important people. An original tune makes an unusual gift for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, memorials etc. You may want to commission a tune which you can ask local musicians to play at your celebration, or you can order a tune on CD. You will choose the title of the tune, so you can name it after your friend or relative and immortalise them in the rich Scots music tradition!
How does it work?
Contact me and I’ll ask you for more information to help me write the right kind of tune for you. Don’t worry if you’re not sure or feel you don’t have enough musical knowledge to ask for what you want – I won’t ask any technical questions!
How much does it cost?
Prices start from £150 for a tune on paper. I can arrange for your tune to be recorded by instruments of your choice, such as highland bagpipes, fiddle, accordion etc with accompaniment if required. The cost of this depends on the number of instruments. I’ll give you an individual quote depending on what you would like.

Anne’s Compliments to Alan McLintic was commissioned as a 50th birthday present for a Scot living in New Zealand who had spent some time in Tanzania – a mix of highland pipes and African-style backing.
Neil’s Waltz – another birthday present, a slow waltz for a father with a sentimental side.
Hugh Finlay’s Legacy – a reel which was named by Ian in memory of a very special person.
