Sarah Northcott of Hartree Music composes traditional-style Scots/Celtic music. Her tunes are played by several bands including The Poozies, Karen Tweed's May Monday and Sarah Jane Summers. You can commission a tune from Sarah, and this tune will be original and unique.

WHY COMMISSION A TUNE? Tunes have been written in Scotland for centuries to mark significant events and celebrations, and an original tune makes an unusual gift for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, memorials etc. You may want to commission a tune which you can ask local musicians to play at your celebration, or you can order your tune on a CD. You will also choose the title of your tune - name it for your friend or family member and you will immortalise them in the rich Scots music tradition!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? Prices are available on request, and depend on your own specific requirements. Have a look at the possibilities below, and contact Sarah to discuss your requirements and ideas. You must order your tune well in advance...last-minute orders will cost more and may not be possible due to delivery times etc.

WHAT KIND OF TUNE DO YOU WANT? Traditionally there are several different styles of Scots tunes, and often these styles are linked to particular Scots dances. If you're planning a ceilidh for your celebration, you may want to consider a tune for a specific dance. Sarah has played in ceilidh bands for many years and will be able to offer advice. Some MP3 examples of tunes by Sarah are below. Tune 1 was commissioned for a Scot who had gone to New Zealand via Tanzania, hence the African flavour; tune 2 is a wedding waltz and tune 3 a celebration reel.
